Furman places 6th in Great American Mock Trial InvitationalThe mock trial team returned home early this morning from a very productive weekend in our nation's capital. The Great American Mock Trial Invitational, hosted by the defending champions from the University of Virginia, was held at the Prettyman United States Court House. It was a singularly impressive assembly with 26 of the nation's elite teams constituting the field. The team finished in sixth place with a 5-2-1 record, Ben Adams '08 was named an outstanding attorney (for the 4th time!) and Renee Keisacker won outstanding witness accolades for her portrayal of Dawn Francis, the victim (a social worker stabbed with an HIV-infected needle when she was attempting to remove the child from the defendant's home) in this year's case. The Paladins won and tied with Harvard B, won both ballots against Cal-Berkeley, lost both ballots to Harvard A (the defending national champions, one ballot by a single point), and defeated Richmond on both ballots.
