Paladins Continue to Enchant Mock Trial World

Friends of Paladin Mock Trial: I returned home early Sunday morning from Chapel Hill, NC with Coaches Mark Fessler and Margaret Oakes and 14 amazing students. The mock trial team had spent Friday and Saturday competing in the Southeast Regional Mock Trial Tournament, hosted by UNC-Chapel Hill. Twenty-four teams competed in the tournament to determine which eight squads would advance to the Southern Opening Round Championship Tournament, which will be held at Furman on March 26-28.

Friends of the Furman Mock Trial Team: This weekend, the Paladins brought their light and magic show to the Downtown Invitational Classic Tournament, hosted by New York University,at the federal district courthouse in Brooklyn, NY. This tournament brought together the most elite field of the entire season, save the national championship. And I am delighted to report that the Paladins captured the title! This tournament has been staged by NYU since 2006, and Furman has won the title twice; other title holders are Columbia, 2006 and Harvard, 2008. Not bad company to keep.

Friends of Furman Mock Trial: Good evening. I am delighted to report that the mock trial Paladins had a great weekend in Miami at the South Beach Invitational Tournament. This tournament had a small field of 12 teams, but they were all representatives of programs that typically qualify for the championship finals. Furman fielded two teams at the South Beach, and we finished in 3rd and 4th places.
